Guardian Angels

Guardian Angels

The Guardian Angels are the women’s group of Mt. Pleasant. Our  purpose is to be a help in the church and our community. We assist the  church in planning activities such as the chicken barbecue, Easter  breakfast, funeral dinners, or meals to assist a member in need. The  women of Mt. Pleasant do communion preparation, care for altar, and  regularly mail greeting cards to others.

We meet the 3rd Sunday following  church and fellowship. We provide financial support to world hunger as  well as to area organizations and/or individuals who need assistance.

Basically, we are, as the name implies, guardian angels looking out for  others!

Bible Study

Bible Study

Thursday Bible Study Every Thursday afternoon members and friends of Mt Pleasant, St Mark’s Albion and Emmanuel LaOtto meet at St Mark’s at 1pm for a study. Topics range from an in-depth study of a book of the Bible to current issues like refugees, sexuality, forgiveness, grace or a comparative study of people of faith who are not Lutherans. Usually lasting an hour and a half, this is a group that really likes to learn.

Community Outreach & Support

Community Outreach & Support

Mt Pleasant is dedicated to reach out with compassion and concern to our neighbors. In October, we host a pet blessing with St Mark’s, Albion. On Christmas Day, we offer a family meal for those who have no place to celebrate. There is an Easter Egg Hunt for children of the community. Throughout the year, we help feed the Kendallville neighborhood around the Apple Tree Center on Tuesdays and give financial support to Apple Tree as well as help fill the blessing box there. We are always looking for ways to make the Gospel come alive to meet the needs of our neighbors. We welcome any ideas to help.

The Apple Tree Center

The Apple Tree Center

The Apple Tree Center began as a ministry of Mt. Pleasant when some members had the desire and vision of reaching our community in a way not possible from our rural church building. With regular prayer and God’s guidance, we purchased an old church building at the corners of Mitchell and Riley Streets in Kendallville and The Apple Tree Center was born. The Apple Tree Center has been a blessing beyond measure for all of us.

Our mission

Inspired by the life of Jesus, we are creating a sense of belonging and community, restoring the promise of hope, and teaching the significance of service to others. Currently in our 11th year of ministry we offer services for children including nature pre-school, before and after school programs and day camps for times when children are not in school, including virtual learning days.

The Apple Tree Center offers services for adults such as: Charlotte’s Table, a free weekly meal offered on Tuesday evenings, a free community store where meal participants can select a bag of groceries, a women’s support group (Roots to Grow On), and enrichment classes.
